I am a health and fitness professional, a happily married wife, and the mother of four beautiful children. I have been in this field for over 10 years, but health and fitness have been part of my life since childhood.
My love of exercise goes way back to when I was a kid and my dad and I would workout in our basement together. I started weight training to help improve my times for the high school swim team. I kept a chart of how much I could bench press and how many reps I could do. From my teen years, I was definitely a personal trainer in the making.
I'd like to say that I've always eaten well, but college life took its toll on me and I gained 25 pounds over the course of four years at Illinois State University. Although I was still exercising almost daily, my eating habits were anything but healthy. The summer after graduation I was determined to lose the weight.
I did the best I could with what knowledge I had at the time, and was able to change some of my eating habits. I was very motivated. I lost all the weight by changing my eating habits and continuing to exercise. Little did I know, I still had a ways to go!
The changes I made helped me lose the weight that I put on with each pregnancy, but I still wished I had more energy to keep up with my busy family and career. After becoming a personal trainer, I discovered that many other women were also struggling with a lack of energy. I decided I wanted to be able to help them even more.
I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the world's largest nutrition school, where I studied every dietary theory, from traditional philosophies (like Ayurveda), to modern concepts (such as vegan and Paleo). Drawing on this knowledge, I am now able to truly understand how to eat for more energy and how to help women create a completely personalized roadmap to health that suits their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
